Location: Lagos, Nigeria.
Job Summary
a. To coordinate vesseland vessel-related operationsinorderto ensurethe goals and objectives of the company are achieved.
b. To ensure an optimum vessel utilization (uptime) by ensuring that all maintenance-related issues are proactively resolved.
c. To ensure that all vessel trading certificates and Vessel Class documents are up to date.
Main Functions
Coordination of marine operations and personnel on the following:
Vessel Operations
• To ensure efficient vessel operations by determining the right speed for every voyage that will optimize fuel consumption. • To monitor vessel operations remotely to ensure that company vessels are operating within the Nigerian maritime environment in line with company’s standard operating procedures and Nigerian Navy regulations. • To prepare reports for all finished operational tasks for commercial invoicing. • To oversee the company’s vessels bunkeringprocedure (Fueling)in line with the approved standard operating procedure. • To oversee the processes related to vessel crew changes, Nigerian Navy crew changes & Nigerian Navy personnel embarkations.
Class Society and Flag State
• Ensuring that vessels meet up with the requirement and documentations for Flag state. To monitor and renew all flag regulatory licenses (NIMASA) on time to avoid sanctions.
• Ensuring that vessels meet up with the requirement and documentations for classification society (Bureau Veritas) on time to avoid sanctions.
• Manage the relationship between the Company and Class societyBureau Veritas, and Flag state – NIMASA, to ensure that all issues with both the Bureau Veritas & NIMASA are proactively managed.
• Lead the operations team for Audits and Surveys
People Management
• Work with Human Resources in the management of the office operations personnel and the vessel crewmembers.
• Work with Human Resourcesin recruitment and training of both office personnel and vessel crewmembers.
• Ensuring that qualified personnel in accordance with NIMASA regulatory requirements properly operate all company vessels.
Job Specification
o Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
o Minimum experience of 10 yearsrelevant experience, with at least 5 years atManagerial Capacity. Industry experience is a prerequisite
o Must have practical experience in vessel operations and must have served in such a capacity for a Minimum of 5 years.
o Strong People Management and Leadership skills o Effective Communication Skill(written and spoken English).
o Must be Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft office suite and other relatedsoftware.
Advisory and Reporting
• Provide Management with relevant periodic reports, analysis, and budgetary recommendations on the expanse of marine operations as and when due
• Provide advice to management on opportunities for improvements within Marine operations, as it relates to processes, policies and systems, and best practices wherever operational gaps have been identified
• Ensure all operational documents (including vessel documents), regulatory licenses and certifications are up to date at all times

Work Conditions
o Work Hours: 8:00am – 5pm; must be willing to work extended hours when need arises.
