We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Procurement Supervisor
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Main Responsibilities

  • Adopt the company’s established protocols in carrying out any task that is statutorily under his/her purview.
  • Responsible for all procurement utilizing the best approach and protocols viz- identification of a minimum of 5 vendors for any item of procurement and identification of the best pricing for items. He/she must be pro-active in gathering market intelligence on quality and price.
  • Maintain a data base of all vendors for the different items that are regularly procured.
    • Writes and/or reviews technical specifications and contracts for purchase of materials and services in conformity with procurement policies of the company.
  • Receive and review all requisitions for the purchase of all items or services (technical or non-technical) and ensure that they are properly approved and within budget.
  • He is responsible for sourcing, processing and analyzing of valid quotations/ tenders for approved items.
  • Under the supervision of the Procurement Manager, he engages in negotiations with suppliers/ vendors, and coordinates the issuance of Purchase Orders (PO) after obtaining approvals. He must ensure that all purchase orders are authorized by management with supporting documents. He must review vendors invoice and ensure they are in line with the PO and the contract terms.
  • Recommends and implements changes in policy and procedures as necessary to meet continually varying procurement requirements and processes
  • Supervises and contributes to the preparation of departmental reports and other relevant procurement reports
  • Interprets contracts, warranty statements, terms/conditions, and legal documents;
  • Reviews and forecasts market trend and perform price/cost analysis as necessary; Carry out market survey to determine best source, new sources, market conditions, and trends
    Inventory Control:
  • Assist in overseeing inventory management to ensure adequate stock levels of critical materials.
  • Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and optimize storage.
  • Generate purchase orders, maintain accuracy of purchasing and inventory systems and records.
    Cost Management:
  • Work with the Procurement Manager in the development and management of procurement budgets.
  • Monitor and control procurement costs to meet budgetary constraints.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost reduction initiatives.
    Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes.

Job Specification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, or any related field.
  • 3 -5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the maritime industry and vessel operations
  • Strong knowledge of marine equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Good understanding of procurement practices and principles and must have demonstrated negotiating skills.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
